This species is very well known. Widespread in all the Old Wordl, modern taxonomist says that maybe could be considered three species of Hoopoe: the Eurasian (Upupa epops), the African (Upupa africana) and the Madagascan (Upupa marginata). But majority of people considere it as sole sub-species of the Hoopoe, the only member of the family Upupidae. It's a not rare bird, very unmistakable, partially migratory, it feeds in insects.
